Reports in the Brazilian press suggest that German side Hertha Berlin are close to completing a deal for Fluminense full-back Júnior César, despite heavily rumoured interest from Werder Bremen.
César, 26, is expected to play his last game for the Tricolor carioca in their final game of the Brazilian Championship against Ipatinga on Sunday, with his agent Pablo Tonietto currently in Germany to tie up the deal with Hertha.
Sao Paulo and Santos were also interested in signing César, who has appeared over 200 times for Fluminense in two spells at the club, but with a European opportunity presenting itself, it seems that he is set for Berlin in January.
Should the final details of the transfer be completed in the coming days then César will join his former Fluminense teammate Cicero at the Olympic Stadium, becoming the sixth Brazilian on Hertha's books in the process.
