Argentina: Di Maria To Miss Scotland Friendly

Benfica wide-man Angel Di Maria looks set to miss out on Diego Maradona's debut as Argentina coach after picking up an injury in his side's 2-0 Uefa Cup defeat to Galatasary last Thursday.

Di Maria completed the ninety minutes, but was unable to train the next day and will now be out of action for at least the next couple of weeks, ruling him out of the friendly clash with Scotland on the 19th November.

The former Rosario Central winger successfully staked his claim for a full international place with some excellent performances during Argentina's run to Olympic gold over the summer and will be disappointed not to be involved in the first game under the new regime.

Maradona will presumably announce a replacement for the twenty year old in the coming days, with a number of domestic based players still hoping to receive a call-up in time for next Wednesday's fixture.
