Tottenham Chase Julio Baptista

Spanish daily Marca reports that new Tottenham boss, Juande Ramos, has made Real Madrid forward Julio Baptista his number one transfer target for January.

Baptista enjoyed a good relationship with Ramos in the very short time they were together at Sevilla and could be keen to link up with the Spaniard once more. However, it is known that Baptista did not really enjoy his time in England - on loan to Tottenham's great rivals Arsenal - last season.

If Tottenham can persuade Baptista to join to Ramos revolution at White Hart Lane, they are likely to have to pay Real Madrid 15million Euros for his services.

Everyone thinks baptista's a striker, well no he's defensive mid originally but was used as a makeshift forward. Makes sense to get him in, in his preffered position as the tough tackling DM we need so badly

Whilst you do make a good point, he hasn't played in a defensive midfielder role for a good three/four years now, so it is natural to assume Ramos would be interested in employing him as an attacking midfielder or forward.

Saying that, Baptista left Sevilla just after Ramos joined, so we didn't get to see how Ramos would have used him there.

A defensive midfielder is clearly what Spurs need, I just don't know if Baptista is the man Ramos has in mind for the role.
