Sao Paulo are the Champions

Sao Paulo clinched their second successive Campeonato Brasileiro title with a 3-0 victory over America Natal last night at the Morumbi stadium.

Goals from Hernandes, Miranda and Dagoberto gave Sao Paulo a comfortable victory against their already relegated opponents, extending their lead at the top of the table to an unassailable fifteen points with four games remaining.

Sao Paulo coach Muricy Ralmalho felt they fully deserved the title:

"The best, most organised team won the championship, we were far superior."

With the title now confirmed, the battle for the Copa Libertadores qualifying positions is now of primary concern. Santos, Flamengo and Palmeiras currently occupy the remaining three places, but Cruzeiro, Gremio and maybe even Atletico Paranaense will fancy their chances of taking one of the coveted spots in the remaining games.
