River Plate Chase Simeone and Pekerman in Search for new Manager

Having already received knock-backs from Carlos Bianchi and Ramon Diaz, River Plate have now turned their primary attention to Estudiantes manager Diego Simeone, although they have also initiated contact with former Argentina boss Jose Pekerman.

As we previously reported, Estudiantes are requesting 500,000 dollars of compensation should Simeone leave them, with River seemingly unwilling to pay the fee. However, in light of the rejections they have received from other potential candidates, it seems that River may now be more open to a compromise, in order to secure Simeone in time for next year's Clausura.

Whilst negotiations are likely to re-open with Estudiantes over Simeone, River have formulated a back-up plan, which has seen them contact Pekerman, who is currently in charge at Club Toluca in Mexico. It is unknown whether Pekerman is open to a move to River, but the option has been put on the table for him should he decide to pursue it.
