Eight supporters have died after part of the Fonte Nova stadium in Salvador collapsed during Bahia's 0-0 draw with Vila Nova on Sunday.
The elevated section of one of stands caved in with ten minutes of the game remaining, leaving a massive 40metre drop to the street below, which some supporters could not avoid.
Bahia state governor, Jacques Wagner, ordered the immediate closure of the fifty-six year old stadium, with an investigation pending to discover the cause of the tragedy.
