Chelsea Trail Young Brazilians Lulinha and Renato Augusto

Chelsea and Real Madrid are though to be interested in signing Lulinha and Renato Augusto, after Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini conceded that it was unlikely the two players would be joining the Italian side.

The Independent quote Zamparini as saying:

"These players are wanted by Europe's biggest clubs.

"Palermo cannot compete with Real Madrid or Chelsea."

Lulinha (17) is an incredibly skillful attacking midfielder, who was an integral part of the Brazilian side that won this year's South American U-17 Championship, scoring twelve goals in seven matches. He currently plays for Corinthians and has previously been linked with a move to Tottenham.

Renato Augusto (19) is another attacking midfielder, who currently plys his trade for Flamengo. He was linked heavily with West Ham this summer, with the East London club having a bid of 10million Euros rejected by the Brazilian side. He signed a new five year contract in May this year, which is reported to have a minimum fee release clause of 30million Euros.

With a strong Portuguese speaking contingent already at Chelsea, West London could prove to be an attractive proposition for the youngsters if Chelsea's interest is followed up. Roman Abramovich seems keen on playing 'sexy football' (copyright Ruud Gullit) and investing in two of Brazil's most exciting young players seems like a pretty good way of guaranteeing just that.
