The first of the two Argentine leagues this season kicked off last night, with reigning Apertura champions Estudiantes getting off a winiing start, defeating Banfield 3-0, with Juan Sebastian Veron among the scorers.In the other game, Velez Sarsfield beat Colon de Sanra Fe 1-0, thanks to a early second half strike from Damian Escudero.
Boca Juniors start their campaign on Sunday at home to Rosario Central, with River Plate missing out the first week's fixtures and beginning their campaign on the 12th August.
