Wednesday Transfer Gossip

Chelsea have clinched the signing of Daniel Alves, according to the Daily Mail. They report that a fee of £21.4million has been agreed and that the transfer is likely to be finalised in time for Alves to make his Chelsea debut against Liverpool this weekend.

Lyon look set to join the race to sign Gabriel Heinze. Sky Sports report that Lyon boss Alain Perrin is interested in the Manchester United defender after his captain Cris suffered a knee injury which will keep him out of action for up to six months.

The Mail also reports that Newcastle are closing in on the £3million transfer of Barcelona full-back Julio Belletti. Allardyce was also interested in Paris St Germain defender Mario Yepes, but has been put off by the £2million price tag the French side have attached to him.

Former Porto, Galatasary and Bolton striker Mario Jardel has moved to the Australian A-League side Newcastle Jets. The Age (Australian link) reports that the Brazilian has signed a one-year incentive based contract as the club's 'marquee player'.

Real Betis have finally completed the signing of Leandro Somoza for 4.5million Euros from Villarreal, as reported by Marca (Spanish link).

Finally, Villarreal chairman Fernando Roig has said that the future of Juan Riquelme will be resolved before the 31 August. Marca (Spanish link) report that Riquelme has received offers from a large number of clubs, both in Europe and further afield, but that he has turned down all of them so far. The move back to Boca Juniors which he craves, seems unlikely at the moment as they cannot afford to pay the transfer fee, so he could spend the entire season in Villarreal reserves if a resolution is not found in the coming weeks.

Saturday Transfer Gossip

First off, the transfer of Carlos Tevez to Manchester United has finally been completed, as reported by Sky Sports.

Sevilla have turned down two bids in excess of 20million Euros for full back Daniel Alves. Sky Sports report that Chelsea are still interested in the Brazilian, but Jose Mourinho says they won't make a "stupid offer" for the player.

Chelsea have completed the signing of another Brazilian though. BBC Sport report that Alex has joined from PSV on a three year deal.

Real Betis look to have finally agreed a deal with Villarreal for Leandro Somoza. Marca (Spanish link) report that a one year loan deal with an option to buy for 4.5million Euros and been verbally agreed and should be committed to paper within the next couple of days.

Peruvian winger Norberto Solano could be on his way to West Ham. The Northern Echo reports that Solano could be part of a double deal with teammate Kieron Dyer, with the winger stating his desire to move to London, where his family are based.

Finally, Juan Riquelme has suggested that he may have to stay with Villarreal for the next couple of seasons. Ole (Spanish link) report that the player has stated his desire to return to play for Boca Juniors when his Villarreal contract ends in 2009, but will return to Spain for the upcoming season.

Wednesday Transfer Gossip

First off, Everton have failed in their ambitious attempt to sign Lucho Gonzalez from FC Porto. Sky Sports report that their £11million bid has been turned down by the Portugese club, who are determined to keep hold of the Argentine midfielder. They have signalled their intentions by buying the remaining economic rights to the player from MSI for a reported 6.5million Euros.

Liverpool have joined Roma in the race to sign Brazilian full back Cicinho from Real Madrid. Sky Sports report that Rafa Benitez will turn to Cicinho after giving up in his attempt to sign his compatriot Daniel Alves from Sevilla.

Almeria have secured the services of Julio Dos Santos for the upcoming season. Marca (Spanish link) report that the Paraguayan will join on a one year loan deal from German side Bayern Munich.

Negotiations continue between Villarreal and Real Betis over the transfer of Leandro Somoza. Marca (Spanish link) report that the talks broke down early on Tuesday, but had resumed by the evening, with the mode of payment thought to be the current stumbling block. The situation is described as 'complicated but not impossible'.

There is a length article in Ole (Spanish link) about the future of Juan Riquelme. Villarreal do not wish to loan the player out to Boca Juniors again for next season and are looking for a permanant deal. Their initial proposal was $6million along with part of the economic rights and the future transfer rights to Rodrigo Palacio and Ever Banega. Boca rejected this out of hand, but the same money along with the rights to Mauro Boselli and Jonatan Maidana seems more acceptable to them. The issue will have to be resolved in the next couple of weeks, with Boca hoping that by playing a waiting game, they will be able to secure Riquelme for well below his true market value.

Finally, Maxi Moralez has moved from Racing to FC Moscow. Ole (Spanish link) report that the Russian club have paid $5million for the young midfielder, who starred in the recent U-20 World Cup.

Saturday Transfer Gossip

First off, Newcastle have completed the signing of Claudio Capaca on a free transfer. Sky Sports report that the former Lyon captain has signed a two-year deal with the Premiership club.

Everton have now joined the race to sign Lucho Gonzalez from FC Porto according to the Daily Express. They report that the Merseyside club are on the brink of a £10million move for the Argentine midfielder who has also been linked with Valencia and Real Madrid.

Portsmouth are interested in signing Jonas Gutierrez from RCD Mallorca. Marca (Spanish link) report that the English club have offered £7million for the Argentine forward, who must decide between a move to the Premiership or to extend his contract with the Spanish side until 2010.

Finally, Marca (Spanish link) also report that Real Betis have agreed a fee with Villarreal to sign Argentine defensive-midfielder Leandro Somoza. The player himself must now decide whether he wishes to move to Hector Cuper's side.

First off, Sky Sports report that Chelsea target Daniel Alves has expressed his desire to "play at a European giant".

Primera Liga new-boys Almeria have signed Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Alves from Atletico Mineiro. Sky Sports report that the 22 year old has signed a five year deal with the Spanish side.

Real Betis may turn to Sporting Lisbon's Carlos Paredes in their search for a central midfielder. Marca (Spanish link) report that their favoured target is still Leandro Somoza of Villarreal, but with the Yellow Submarines seemingly unwilling to sell the Argentine, Parades would be a good alternative for Hector Cuper's side.

Finally, Real Zaragoza seem to have hit a stumbling block over the transfer of Fabio Coloccini from Deportivo. Marca (Spanish link) report that the clubs cannot agreed a fee for the Argentine defender, despite personal terms having been agreed some days ago. The player's agent, Marcelo Lombilla excepts the issue to be resolved in the next few days.
