Brazil: Nilmar Linked With Real Madrid Move

Internacional striker Nilmar is one of a number of South American players to be linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid in January following the news that Ruud van Nistelrooy will be out of action for at least six months with a knee injury.

Nilmar endured a tough year at Lyon in 2004/05 in his only previous foray into European football, but the 24 year old bounced back well from that disappointment and may feel that the time is right to give Europe another try.

With the Brazilian season coming to a close in December, Internacional would likely be keen to listen to offers for the striker, and for Madrid he would prove to be a cheaper option than the likes of Diego Milito, upon whom Genoa have slapped a €50 million-plus price tag.

Inter Milan castoff Hernan Crespo is currently looking like one of the frontrunners to replace van Nistelrooy, as he has both the necessary experience and would be available for a nominal fee due to his recent inactivity at the San Siro under Jose Mourinho.

CSKA Moscow's Vagner Love and Zaragoza striker Ricardo Oliveira have also been linked to the Spanish champions, but are unlikely to be seen as first choice options due to concerns over their attitudes.
