Rivaldo Moves To Uzbekistan

Brazilian forward Rivaldo has surprised his current employers AEK Athens by declaring that he has agreed a deal in principle to join Uzbeki outfit FC Bunyodkor.

Rivaldo, 36, will sign a two-year contract with the side formerly known as PFC Kurivchi - a deal that is thought to be worth in the region of €10million to the former FIFA and European Player of the Year.
He announced the deal on the Greek radio station Novosport FM, indicating that the money on offer was too good for him to refuse.

"It was a difficult decision to make but I have received an offer that is very good at this stage of my career. I had a great time at AEK. I thank the president and the fans, but this offer is very good for me and my family."

FC Bunyodkor are hoping to make a splash in the knockout stages of this year's Asian Champions League and were linked with a sensational move for Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o earlier in the summer. Rivaldo will certainly add star power to their squad as they look to make further progress in the competition, starting with the first leg of their quarter final against Iranian side Saipa FC on the 17th September.

You have to wonder where that money is coming from, as everyone hearing about Uzbekistan might think of poverty!
