Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A Update

The Brazilian league season reached its half way point this weekend just gone, with reigning champions Sao Paulo currently leading by seven points from Botafogo, with Cruzeiro, Vasco da Gama and Palmeiras also in close attendance.

America Natal currently prop up the table, with Flamengo, Juventude and Nautico Recife occupying the other relegation places.

Unlike Argentina, Chile and a number of other South American leagues, the Brazilian league is run as a full league season rather than being split into two seperate opening (Apertura) and closing (Clausura) leagues.

For British viewers interested in catching up with the latest action from the Brazilian league, Sky Sports show highlights in their program 'Foot Brazil', which is shown on Sky Sports 1, Wednesdays, at the following times:

09:30
12:00
14:00
15:30

The program usually consists of 'extended highlights' of the week's big game and showing goals from all the other games played that week. It is definitely worth watching if you're a fan of the Brazilian game.
